Welcome to Central’s Student Ministry!

Central Student Ministry Goals

central-sm-logo-with-textThere are four goals we have for every student that comes through Central’s Student Ministry. We pray they…

1) Hear It

2) Know It

3) Live It

4) Own It

Everything we do will fit in one of these goals. That they Hear God’s Word through teaching and evangelism and that they will come to Know God’s Word through discipleship. Once a student comes to know Jesus Christ as Savior, we aim to help them Live their faith out daily through discipleship and missions. Our final goal is that every student would Own their faith as their own as they leave our student ministry and navigate into adulthood.

What We Do

  • Youth Worship – Every Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 we have worship with our student praise team, a message from God’s Word that challenges and encourages our students, and we spend time in small groups to help us translate what we have heard and read during the message into a practical application for our life. Whether you are a 7th grader who has never been in church, or a Senior who has been in church since birth, we believe God has a word for you every week as we meet in the Underground.
  • Sunday School – Sundays at 9:00 we split into small groups for fellowship and Bible study. Each Sunday School class is divided by gender and grouped by grades.
  • Summer Activities – We have a lot going on each summer! Between youth camp, weekly worship, fellowships, and our summer mission trip there is always something to plug in to and get involved with.

  • Camp Fuego – located in Marshall Texas, at East Texas Baptist University, Fuego is a place our students have come to love, and a place that they look forward to returning each year.  It is 5 days during which our students grow closer to each other, and in their relationship to God through worship, dynamic speaking, Bible study, and small groups. It’s a place where they unplug from social media, phones, and the distractions of life, creating bonds and sharing experiences they will remember for a lifetime.
  • We only have a few spots available, so if your student is interested contact the office quick!

  • Summer – For the last several years we have offered 6-8 day mission trips for students to participate in. We spent a couple summers working with a church planter on Long Island, NY in 2015 & 2016. In 2017 we took a group and partnered with FBC Crystal Beach, TX doing local outreach and service projects and facilitating a church-wide revival. This past summer we had a group of High School students go to Seattle, WA to work with a church planter doing community outreach, prayer walking, service projects, and homeless ministry.  In 2019, we will be going on our first trip out of the country to Honduras.
  • Throughout the Year – We try to make it a point to offer opportunities for 1-day mission projects throughout the year (i.e., homeless ministry, helping in Central’s Food Pantry, community events, etc.). Also, every student is encouraged to help serve alongside Central at all the ministry & mission opportunities we have (Christmas Closet, block party, Vacation Bible School, Grill Team events, etc.). Several of our students have gone on church-wide mission trips with adult teams throughout the year.

  • An Apologetics Retreat – which began in 2012, is led each year by Pastor Wyman.  Every Fall we spend a weekend where we are given tools we can use in defending our faith.  We are blessed to have a pastor who takes the time, and sees the importance of pouring into our students knowledge that can benefit them in their daily lives.  And, of course, we always make time for campfires, smores, and a competitive game of Archery tag.
